Here’s a handy list of what to bring when you come on a course:
Pack your personal gear in a soft bag or rucksack and include:
- plenty of warm clothes including hat and gloves, waterproof jacket and trousers, sailing boots or wellingtons and soft shoes
- toilet bag (wet wipes and ear plugs are useful) towel, sleeping bag and optional small pillow, sun glasses & sun cream
- small torch, plenty of poly bags to store your gear, your RYA cruising log book (I can supply one if you don’t have one) and most importantly bring your sense of humour with you.
Please don’t hesitate to send an e-mail if you have any questions about gear or any other aspect of your course. If you are new to sailing do not spend hundreds of pounds on wet weather gear. Your hill walking or skiing gear will do fine. If you don’t have these borrow from friends. You will however need to invest in a cheap pair of sailing boots or wellingtons.
